What age or skill level do I need to be?
Laser Sports are suitable for all ages 8 and over. We run several Leagues, so you can find the one that suits your age bracket or skill level.
JUNIOR LEAGUE - AGES 8 TO 14
Junior League is perfect for ages 8 to 14 and is a young players first step in to the world of Laser Sporting. Junior League runs on Wednesdays during school term from 4pm-6pm. The first week is FREE to try, and the ongoing cost is only $12 per week. Parents are welcome to stick around and assist the tournament coordinator in facilitating the event. If you have a child that does not like traditional sports, then you should definitely bring them down to try Junior League. Laser Sports is perfect for getting kids off the couch, getting active and socialising with other young enthusiasts. Check out our Junior League page for more information.
1ST DIVISION LEAGUE - BEGINNER TO ADVANCED (AGE 13+)
1st Division League is for ages 13 and over, and is a long running League with players of all skill levels. You can join with friends or by yourself. If you join as a full team, we recommend splitting in 2 and matching up with some experienced players for a season or 2 to get the hang of things. Our advanced handicapping system ensures that teams of varying skill levels can compete on an equal playing field, but having experienced campaigners to show you the ropes really helps. Check out the Tuesday League page for more information.
Masterclass Events - Introduction to Laser Sports
Our Masterclass Events provide you with the basic skills to start your journey to becoming a ninja Laser Tag player. We look at phasor hand holds, how to use cover effectively, understanding the equipment and team communication, just to name a few. We finish off each session with some games so you can put in to practice what you have just learned.
These exclusive events are run every school holidays for children 6-17yrs and are booked through Moreton Bay Regional Council at a subsidsed rate so keep an eye out for their Active Holidays program as spaces are limited.
Do I need to bring a team or can I join by myself?
You are welcome to join by yourself, with a friend or 2, or as a full team of 5. Previous experience has shown that full teams of 5 who intend to play together develop quicker by splitting in their first season or 2, so that they can be shown the ropes by a couple of experienced players, and then re-forming once they are a little more experienced.
How hard is it?
With Laser League there is a learning curve, but it is pretty short. Within 4 weeks you will be able to hold your own, know which positions to take, and be starting to get a handle on some of the communication skills. When you start, we have a special offer of $30 total for your first 4 weeks. This special offer is designed to help you make it through the initial learning curve.
The tournament administrators and senior players are available thoroughout the season and offer special training to show new players all the tricks and techniques of the game. If you are keen to improve your game, there will be plenty of opportunities.
Are there competitions beyond local League?
Yes, Laser Tag has a regional association that administers tournaments between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane sites. The blue ribbon event is the 5 man teams, North v South event. Side events include Doubles, Triples and Solo's events. Side events are a perfect stepping stone to playing at the regional teams level.
Australia has the healthiest Laser Sporting community in the world. Each year we host a Laser Tag tournament that averages over 22 teams from around Australia and New Zealand, The Zone Australasian Championships. In March 2016 Laserzone Brisbane hosted the Australasian Titles for the first time. If you ever wanted to train a Laser Tag team to play amongst the best, here is your chance!
